A Leaf on a Sea Breeze: a touring exhibition from Leasingstede Museum
– Date: 7th July to 24th November 2018
Way over in the West Country, there’s an idiosyncratic folk museum in the fictitious village of Leasingstede, which happens to have a shared history with this town.
An ancestor of its founder was the well-known local character, “Figgy” Nottrowe, and there are other surprising links between Leasingstede Museum and Worthing, which can be discovered in this touring exhibition of curiosities, rural tools, archaeological treasures and anything else that’ll fit in the van.
The Lore of Leasingstede // Thursday 11th October, 1pm to 2pm
A conversation with the Other Curator, and a chance to talk about A Leaf on a Sea Breeze with the exhibition’s creator, Jane Williams.
‘This is my Museum’ // October 27th 2pm to 4pm // In Education Room
MAKE A MARVELLOUS MINI-MUSEUM
If you had a museum of your own, what would you put in it? Would it be something like The Museum of My Favourite Sweets? The Museum of Things I’ve Borrowed from My Sister? Or maybe The Museum of Objects That are Yellow and Purple?
Imagine and create the museum of your choice in a shoebox using all sorts of craft materials, join the session for 7 to 9-year-olds led by Jane Williams, October 27th 2pm to 4pm . Jane is the artist whose own museum is on show in A Leaf on a Sea Breeze, in Worthing Museum’s Studio gallery. Numbers are limited, so do contact Worthing Museum to book your place.
